KL JSM (Circa 1982) For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind ( 2 Timothy1:7)

Dear Praying Friends,

In year 1981 we responded to an urgent call to serve in KL JSM. Next year a very unusual and unforgettable incident happened

It was sometime in Mid 1982 when I was about to get married.

At this time there was trouble in SOM (School of Mission) , Singapore. A student by the name of Joanna was under possession but supposedly delivered. She together with two SOMers brothers Joshua Yeem & Yee Bee Chong came to KL JSM for refuge.

On a Friday Over Night Prayer Meeting in KL my fiancee (now my wife) felt giddy at about 1.30am. So I fetched her to my parent’s home about 10 minutes drive away.

On returning to the Mission just as a I drove past the Caltex Petrol Station along Pudu Road before turning to the KL Jesus Saves Mission I felt the hairs of my arms bristled and stood stiff. It has never happened in my life before and I thought it rather strange

On joining the All Night Prayer Meeting again I was waiting to close the Meeting  in prayer. Note: By year 1982 the KL Friday Night Prayer lasts from 10pm Friday to Saturday 2am (not 4am)

Just as I was about to close in prayer at 2am I suddenly felt very very drowsy. The next thing was

“THUMP!” A LOUD BANG! AS IF A HUGE OBJECT HAD HIT THE FLOOR (the Mission was located on the 1st floor of the rented Corner Shophouse.

I got jolted up and fully awake!

It was Joanna who fell and hit the floor with huge force!

And then from Miss Joanna came out this male Voice, “HAHAHA! DESTROY! DESTROY!!  HAHAHA!!! DESTROY!! DESTROY!!” It was a strong  masculine voice with Very Menacing Tone!

“HAHAHA! DESTROY! DESTROY!!  AND GETS LOUDER IN THE WEE HOURS OF THE NIGHT! HAHAHA! DESTROY! DESTROY!!

I was totally frozen with fright. As if ten thousand icy needles piercing right into my body and right into my very soul.

The hairs on my body bristled with a cold shattering fear. I cannot describe the terror hearing & seeing Demonic Possession for the very 1st time.

As I stood there helpless and frozen; suddenly a still small  voice spoke inside, “for god hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind”

it vibrated outward “God hath not given us the Sprit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind”

And it turned warm and then hot “For God hath not given us the Spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind”

And as it radiates out like a nuclear explosion of GREAT POWER

“FOR GOD HATH NOT GIVEN US THE SPIRIT OF FEAR; BUT OF POWER, AND OF LOVE, AND OF A SOUND MIND!

THE SEARING HOT VOICE OF GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT THROUGH THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT SAID AGAIN THROUGH MY LIPS THEN

“FOR GOD HATH NOT GIVEN US THE SPIRIT OF FEAR; BUT OF POWER!!, AND OF LOVE!!, AND OF A SOUND MIND!!!” (By now the spirit of fear totally wiped out by the searing hot power of God’s Mighty Word & PRESENCE!! Amen & Amen!

OMNIPOTENT GOD IS HERE!

THE OMNIPOTENT OF GOD – “BUT OF POWER”

THE OMNI-PRESENCE OF GOD – “AND OF LOVE!”

THE OMNISCIENT OF GOD – “AND OF A SOUND MIND”

Ye have an UNCTION of the Holy One and Knoweth all things”

“OVERWHELMING PRESENCE OF GOD’S  SHEKINAH GLORY OVERCAME ALL OVER POWERING FRIGHT

GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN YOU, THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD!”

Above KL JSM Members (Circa 1980s)

From that Friday night most members faithfully attend the Wednesday Mid Week Prayer Meeting

Total combined with English & Chinese were a small group of 30 members

Someone asked,

“How many members are there in your Mission?”

We replied, “About 30 members”

And how many attend the Mid Week Church Prayer Meeting?

Again we replied, “About 30 members”

Looking back we have attended Churches with over 1,000 members on Sunday but during the Mid Week Prayer Meetings only less than 100 members (less than 10% turn up for prayer.

KL JSM with its Mid Week Prayer Meetings, Friday Over Night Prayer Meeting & the many nights of prayer on Gasing Ridge will always be remembered. For ever and for ever as time spent  in the Very Presence of God is never wasted

Below is a photo of Gasing Ridge Friday Night Prayer

Oh the pure delight of a single hour;

That before Thy Throne I spent.

When I kneel in Prayer

And with Thee My God

I Commune as friend with Friend.

(Note: Spore is Mt Faber & Penang was Bukit Dumbar Friday Nights Prayer)

Note: There was a story of a fisherman having caught live fishes from the Ocean and transport them in Tanks back to shore.

But the fishes were dull and inactive staying put at the bottom of the Tank. Then the fisherman got an idea.

He put some catfishes in the Tank. As the catfishes got poison stings all those tepid fishes started to move away to avoid those catfishes.

By this the Fisherman kept those fishes active & lively.

So God allows trials in our lives to keep us all alert & watchful. Less we are lulled to sleep and backslide away from Him.

1979 to 1981 March Penang Rifle Range JSM : Missioner Koay’s Testimony of her fierce battle against the Powers of Darkness

Dear Praying Friends

We fast forward to year 1979 (Please bear with us more updates on BHS Jsm circa 77/78 later)

It was in year 1977 when Brother Amos invited us to preach in Muka Head Camp, Penang

Two messages came to mind

7 Reasons why we should read the Bible

7 Reasons why we should give ourselves to serve God in Full Time Service

Both Brother Amos (Lucky) Depasquale & his dear wife Helen consecrated themselves to serve God  in that Camp

See

On the right is Brother Amos

Sitting front 3rd from left is Mrs Helen Despasquale

It was brother Amos who asked us to go serve in Penang Rifle Range JSM (Soon after we arrived in Penang circa 1979 Brother Amos & Family resigned from the Butterworth Australian Air Force and returned to Australia. He was pastoring in the ministry for some time

Now Penang is totally given to idolatry and a strong hold of Satan

This is the Testimoney of Missioner Koay Gaik Kee

Ms Koay said Penang Island  has the shape of a tortoise.

See Tanjong Bungah JSM Circa 1970 to 1980s

Sitting 4th from front right is Missioner Koay Gaik Kee

And this is her Story

When JSM started its Work in Tanjung Bungah there was an abandoned 3 room Bungalow Villa going for rent at the sum of Rm55 (yes only fifty five ringgit) as no body want to rent it. No body even dare to stay in it even if it’s free as it was a haunted place

Ms Koay said the 1st Night she stayed in that Haunted House She had to fight of the unclean evil spirits valiantly as a good soldier of Jesus Christ

Finally the evil spirits all left when Jesus Christ enters. Amen!

In Rifle Range where i stayed for two full years was a different story then

Every night was a battle just to get some good sleep

Because many a night evil spirits will disturb.

One night the piano downstairs (I slept upstair) would play on its own in the wee hours

One night a cat entered my room & with blood shot eyes looked at me.

“I bind you evil spirits in the name of Jesus!” and that black cat fled

I thought it very strange so I asked a convert called brother Bee Chong

He said evil spirits would turn his body upside down when he slept at night

Appalled I went to talk to people outside the Mission Church

At Gurney Drive I met a Malay man. Asked him if he slept well?

He said no in Malay “Banyak kacau” translated “very disturbing”.

Even in Noordin Street JSM there were disturbances

But not in Tanjung Bungah JSM

In this Villa there are 3 rooms

One on each side left & right. In the center a little woonden stair leads to the Sole Upstair Room where Rev Stephen Koe was the resident Pastor

So i used to visit him from time to time and slept very peacefully in that “Cleansed” Villa

Many years later after we resigned from JSM we visited Penang as Tourists: Stayed in YMCA, Several Hotels in George Town also the Penang Hill Hotel

Slept very peacefully

I think then I was in Full Time Service (Military) and a threat to the devil. Now I am a civilian (no threat to him maybe)

But that is not the end of the Story

A greater battle awaits in next Post:

Satanic Power by Demonic Possession in KL JSM (Circa 1981 to 1988)

To be continued

We covet earnest prayers from all who visit

TYVM. May Almighty God bless all

Where are you now Brother Yee Bee Chong?

Please keep in touch

Note: This world is not a play ground but a battle ground.

THE CALL TO SERVE IN BHS JSM (Circa 1977 & 1978) Reminisces of God’s Power over Satan

Dear praying friends

We have been hindered much from posting this. At long last the good Lord permits us to post

In year 1976 Missionary Pastor Dr. John Mincy left BHS JSM

Then Rev Dr Ng suggested we go serve in BHS JSM for year 1977 & then 1978

These two years were years of battles against the powers of darkness

Here let us quote verbatim from our 1978 Diary

The year begins with Brother Lucky Amos Despasquale speaking in Craig Road JSM year 1978 Sunday January 1st

(afternoon we attended the BHS worship)

The entry in our Diary on that day

Christ the Son of God has sent me

Thru’ the mid-night lands

Mine the mighty Ordination

Of the pierced hands

The reality of God’s Presence was so real in Craig Road’s Worship Service that tears streamed down my cheeks this morning.

Brother Lucky preached from his heart.

Above was morning Worship in Craig Road Jsm entry

Now see afternoon entry Bhs Jsm (4pm Worship time)

There was a hindrance at the BHS Worship Service this afternoon. The message went through with considerable power. Went for dinner with brother Lucky and Paul Chiew

Year of 1977 in BHS Jsm started with 4 Brothers in the 1st Men Fellowship. All through year 1977 we had a blessed time of Worship, Doctrinal Class, Student’s Club, Bible Study & Prayer Meetings

By Year end we had the BLESSED REVIVAL CAMP ON PENANG HILL where more than 30 Young Men & Young Women were called to Full Time Service

After the Revival Camp Bro Lucky (Amos) said we should go to the Mission Stations to do Evangelism Work

Only God knows much later BHS Jsm will be the chosen Mission to hold that 1978 Evangelistic Campaign

But not so easy

THERE WAS OPPOSITION FROM THE POWERS OF DARKNESS

See next entry in our 1978 Diary (Journal) dated 2nd January 1978

We quote verbatim

Brother Lucky spoke to J.K. AND Karen this morning.

Announced the conflict in the Mission. Sister B. broke down and wept. Had a talk with her.

Above tells us there was conflict ongoing then

Now see this entry below

“Was oppressed by evil spirits to-night. Heard a whole gang downstairs. Rebuked them sharply in Jesus Name.

We wept when brother Lucky depart for Penang.

What actually happened in BHS JSM on that night in January 2nd 1978?

BHS JSM was a Corner HDB Shophouse with 2 Storey. Ground Floor is used as a Kindergarten in the Week Days. Children Used Those Benches as Desk for their Study.  These same Benches are Used as Church Pews for Church Services during the Weekends.  On Saturday there is a lively, vibrant Student’s Club & on Sunday a hive of activities : Soul Winning at 12 noon. Adult Bible Study Class at 3pm & Sunday Afternoon Worship at 4pm.

Upstairs is a Hall with 2 Rooms

I used to sleep upstair in the Hall

This particular night of nights I heard a whole gang of evil spirits “DRUMMING” the Benches downstairs.

The noise gets louder and Louder and LOUDER until it was unbearable so I got up

and said, “I COMMAND YOU EVIL SPIRITS TO LEAVE IN THE NAME OF JESUS!!!”

At that the whole place fell silence.

That was the beginning of a battle.

The powers of darkness fiercely oppose;

When slaves from their bonds we free.

Our path may beset with desperate foes;

But none of these things move me”

By The Marecale (daughter of William Booth

To be continued…

Brethren & whoever reading this we covet your fervent earnest prayers

TYVM in Jesus’ Name

Amen

To be continued…..

PAUL AT APPII FORUM: RECONNECTING FRIENDS THAT GAVE COURAGE

Dear Friends

This month has been another Most Blessed Month of my Pilgrim Journey

Out of the blue we received a whataspp call to reconnect with long lost friends

It reminded me of a passage in Acts 28:14b -15

so we went toward Rome.

15 And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.

What happened then?

Paul after appealing to Ceaser was on his final Journey to Rome after traveling through dangers of shipwreck, snake bite & many other dangers

As Paul reached Rome he passed through a place called Appii Forum where there were 3 Taverns (Inns)

Here he met converted Jews which came to meet him

And “HE TOOK COURAGE”

Paul needed that final booster to face his final battle yet ahead which concludes Acts 28 but not the end as The Acts of the Holy Spirit through Aposle Paul continues on today

How we thank God

In the 4th Stanza of LIFE’S DESIRE IT SAYS

“Though weak and weary I fight on;

Till some from this wide world I’ve won.

Averting men from God’s great wrath;

And turn them to the heavenly path.”

For many years we use to read Psalm, Proverbs & the Book of Acts everyday

Psalm is for the heart

Written by King David a man of God’s own heart

Proverbs written by King Solomon

The wisest man on earth

ACTS OF THE APOSTLES

By Luke about the Zeal & Fire of the Holy Spirit operating through the Church

Very often after 40 years reading Acts’ “APPII FORUM & THE THREE TAVERNS” we wondered why God mentioned that?

Now i know

In years 2020 to 2022 these 3 “Locked in Years” due to Coronavirus God reconnected us to 3 Groups of Very dear Christian Friends

  1. GENESIS

012 2020884 created group “GENESIS”

A VERY BIG AND VERY WARM WELCOME AWAITS ALL

God really worked in Mysterious ways

As William Cowper wrote

  1. God moves in a mysterious way
    His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea
    And rides upon the storm.
  2. Deep in unfathomable mines
    Of never failing skill
He treasures up His bright designs
    And works His sov’reign will.
  3. Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy and shall break
    In blessings on your head.
  4. Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
    But trust Him for His grace;
    Behind a frowning providence
    He hides a smiling face.
  5. His purposes will ripen fast,
    Unfolding every hour;
The bud may have a bitter taste,
But sweet will be the flow’r.
  6. Blind unbelief is sure to err
    And scan His work in vain;
    God is His own interpreter,
And He will make it plain.

Amen! & Amen!

Calvin Tan

The Bible Says

“THEY THAT  FEARED THE LORD SPAKE OFTEN ONE TO ANOTHER”

Malachi 3:16

“Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.”

1964 When JSM Singapore was formed Veterean Missionary John Kuhn graced its opening

Dear Prayer Warriors,

Tonight we want to honor God’s Great Goodness in sending His Son to be the 1st Christian Missionary on earth whose “fire” burn on these two thousand years

David Livingstone quote: God had only one Son, and He was a missionary.

In year 1964 Missionary John Kuhn from the China Inland Mission graced the opening of the 1st JSM Station in Circuit Road, Chinatown Slum, Singapore

“Straight to the heart of Chinatown he (Rev Peter Ng)  went and found the cheapest place available, a haunted house in whose toilet two men recently hanged themselves. He quit his career, rented No. 20A Craig Road, and proceeded to begin a Sunday school, church service, kindergarten, free clinic, tuition, and social relief. Concerned people from established denominations, seminaries, and mission boards volunteered to the cause of the new Jesus Saves Mission (JSM). They scrubbed the floor and walls of joss paper and filth, painted the place, assembled some benches, and on August 8, 1964, held a service at which veteran missionary John Kuhn officially opened JSM.” (Extracted from JSM webpage)

John Kuhn, together with his wife Isobel Kuhn, responded to be Missionaries to China under the behest of James O. Fraser. And James O. Fraser was inspired to serve among the Lisu tribe, by J. Hudson Taylor,  the Founder of China Inland Mission.

Two years later in 1966 John Kuhn went home to be with the LORD

But the Missionary fire of sacrifice, fervent prayer & fervent service continued to burn on.

How my heart burned remembering the Great Exploits of J. Hudson Taylor & the effectual prayer life of James O. Fraser. We will quote more about James O. Fraser prayer victory in later chapters

For now I remember Year 1976 when it was a breeze serving as a Student Missioner in Craig Road JSM. Since Ms Liew Kwai Fong was the capable Missioner it was actually a real blessed year for me. That year went swiftly by

Craig Road Mission has the notorious history of two people hanged in the toilets during the Japanese Occupation but after it has been cleansed by the precious blood of Jesus I slept there very peacefully like heaven on earth.

Not so in other Missions or even SOM as we will relate later where we fought fierce battles against the powers of darkness many a night.

From this humble place arose Teachers, Preachers & other faithful members to this day.

I remember in the Student’s Club  two faithful sisters called Liew Bee & Kim Yen. Sister Kim Yen later became the wife of Rev. Peter Tan (Pastoring among the Bp Churches. Next year 1977 bro John Goh took over when we were posted to BHS JSM.

Here we see the conversion of Rev James Tan (Pastor of Christ Grace Church). One day I met James and he said, “There is a very quiet person in the congregation who is my “silent Teacher”. I said,  “Brother Tuck Keong” and I was right. Today he is Rev. Tang Tuck Keong the Current Senior Pastor of JSM”. God raised up two Teachers for SOM in the persons of Ms Liew & Agnes after graduating from Bob Jones University.

But my heart burned as I read the Great Works of Jesus Christ through all the zeal, the unceasing prayers & the total loneliness and privation of those Missionaries that went before

The Work of Evangelism & Soul winning is the outgrowth of walking with Jesus. And may we never ever forget

“GOD HAS ONLY ONE BEGOTTEN SON. AND GOD MADE HIM A MISSIONARY!”

Amen & Amen!

OUR FAITH IS ANCHORED IN THE GREAT FAITHFULNESS OF OUR GOD WHO IS UNCHANGING & UNCHANGEABLE

Happy & Blessed New Year 2022!

The Rock of our Foundation is not in us but in the Unchanging and unchangeable Great Faithfulness of Our Loving Father

In very early days two Christian songs anchored us in God’s faithfulness

  1. LIKE A RIVER GLORIOUS
  2.  GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS

This is the Day to Rest our Faith in Our Loving Father

First look at the hymn “Like A River Glorious”

1)Like a river glorious is God’s perfect peace
Over all victorious in its bright increase
Perfect, yet it floweth fuller every day
Perfect, yet it groweth deeper all the way
Chorus:
Stayed upon Jehovah, hearts are fully blest
Finding as He promised
Perfect peace and rest
2)Hidden in the hollow of His blessed hand
Never foe can follow, never traitor stand
Not a surge of worry, not a shade of care
Not a blast of hurry touch the spirit there
3)Every joy or trial falleth from above
Traced upon our dial by the Sun of Love
We may trust Him fully all for us to do
They who trust Him wholly find Him wholly true
By Frances Ridley Havergal
The 3rd Stanza says
Every joy or trial falleth from above
Traced upon our dial by the Sun of Love
We may trust Him fully all for us to do
They who trust Him wholly find Him wholly true
Nothing in life comes to us by accident. They all come by appointments
It says, “Every joy or trial falleth from above”
Why?
Read again, “Traced upon our dial by the Sun of Love”
In ancient times before the clock was invented the Sun dial is used to indicate time
It is from the rotation of the earth around the Sun. Later the clock is invented to follow the Sun dial.
So every event of our lives are pre-planned by God from above. And we MUST TRUST HIM WHOLLY NO MATTER COME WHAT MAY
Because Our God is ALL KNOWING and even the hairs of our head He knows the exact number

“Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?

But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.” (Luke 12:6 & 7)

Can God be Trusted?

The Answer is in His Great Faithfulness

We come to the 2nd Hymn

Great Is Thy Faithfulness

By Thomas Chisholm
1)Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father
There is no shadow of turning with Thee
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me
2)Summer and winter and springtime and harvest
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me
3)Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine with 10, 000 beside
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me
Read these words carefully
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father
There is no shadow of turning with Thee
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be
Every time i sing or read these words tears will welled up in my eyes
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father
There is no shadow of turning with Thee
THERE IS NO SHADOW OF TURNING WITH THEE
Oh God, My Faithful God! Thou Art the Same Yesterday, Today & For Ever
Truth unchanged. Unchanging in all Thy Faithfulness
The Shadow on the Sun Dial might constantly change but not the SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
God’s Word says,

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.” James 1:17 & 18)

If we live in the light as He is in the Father of Lights We can Trust Him Wholly & Find Him Wholly True.

Amen & Amen!

In all our changing ways of life. In all the vicissitudes of life Our God has no variableness

variation
/vɛːrɪˈeɪʃ(ə)n/

a change or slight difference in condition, amount, or level, typically within certain limits.

neither shadow of turning

Above is an image of a Sun dial. The shadow will move according to the rotation of the earth
God’s promise to us is
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” (Philippians 1:6)
Amen & Amen!

“It is of the Lord‘s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. (Lam. 3: 23 & 24)

Christmas Message: THE PERFECT GOVERNMENT, By Calvin E,Y, Tan

Good evening friends,

On this night more than 2,000 years ago Jesus Christ was born.

He came in 2 phases.

Phase One

To be born pure without sin and to die for all mankind

After he was crucified, buried & resurrected He returned to heaven

Phase Two

Jesus Christ will return again the 2nd time to reign as King of Kings & Lord of Lords Forever and Forever.

The text tohight is from Isaiah 9: 6 & 7

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

Note these points:

1) For unto us a child is born

Jesus came by incarnation birth of Virgin Mary. Prophet Isaiah 600 years ago predicted his birth.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. (Luke 2:11 – 14)

2) Unto us a Son is given

This child is a special Gift from God the Father in heaven

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

3) And the Government shall be upon His shoulder

Jesus will create “A Perfect Government”

4) And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

The Perfection of His Governance

Jesus is Wonderful in Counseling, He is All Powerful since He is also Mighty God in nature. Everlasting Father of beginning of time and the ending of time “when time shall be no more (And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer: (Revelation 10:6) Jesus will cause time to cease to exist as we enter Eternity of fellowship with Him). He is the Prince of Peace that rules in Greatest Peace for ever and for ever

5) Of the increase of His government there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

The World Empires of Babylon under Nebudchadnezzar ended with the Medo-Persian Empire. The Medo-Persian Empire ended with the Rise of Grecian Empire under Alexander the Great. The Roman Empire destroyed the Grecian Empire & the Roman Empire disintegrates into the European Economic Communities

But the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (The Prince of Peace) will rise and Rule from eternity to eternity forever and forever.

God gave us His Son Jesus to be born as a Man that we might have the chance to be born into His Kingdom

That is why Jesus said

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. … [5] Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.(John 3:3)

Either you are born once and die twice or born twice and die only once (But if Jesus returns and you are alive and have accpted Him as Lord & Saviour you might not even see death as you will be raptured alive & transformed into perfection with him to glory in heaven

So the true message of Christmas is this

A child is born who is none other than the Gift of God’s only begotten Son

If you accept him you will not perish (means die in sin and go to hell) but receive everlasting life

Everlasting life? Yes

Read again

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

Read again in Bold Print

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE. (John 3:16)

YES!

This is Our Message

And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come (Matthew 24:14)

gospel means “good news” the most important good news for mankind that God will set up a Kingdom whose Goverment is Perfect See  “upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”

A Government with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever

When will this happen?

Very soon as this world has witnessed end time evennts like Wars & rumours of wars, earthquake in various places, pestilences (Coronavirus) coming famines & other calamities of the end times

And the seventh angel sounded, and there were great voices in Heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign for ever and ever!”(Rev. 11:15)

Aramaic Bible in Plain English
And the seventh Angel sounded, and there were great voices in Heaven that said, “The Kingdom of the world has become our God’s and his Messiah’s, and he shall reign to the eternity of eternities.”

Calvin invites all to accept Jesus Christ as Lord & Saviour to-night

As my Life’s Desire is to see as many as possible to be with Christ Forever & Forever

Life’s Desire

1.) I need the promised Holy Ghost;
To stir the gift, O LORD of hosts.
Create in me concrete desire;
To be for Thee a flame of fire.

2.) I need the presence of His Son;
From world and sin and self to turn.
To live by faith through God’s great grace;
And walk with Him in grateful praise.

3.) I need my Father’s guiding grace;
To spur me on the upward way.
Show me the path to man’s chief end;
Stay by my side, dear Heavenly Friend.

4.) Though weak and weary I fight on;
Till some from this wide world I’ve won.
Averting men from God’s great wrath
And turn them to the heavenly path.

5.) The promise of an endless life;
God welcomes you to claim the prize.
A thousand million years and more;
With Christ forever, forever more

The greatest thing in all my life is knowing, loving & serving Jesus Christ

Dear praying friends,

Today is the 48th Anniversary of our calling

See again

10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

11 I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour.

12 I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God.

I am called to be an eye and ear witness of God – “Ye are my witnesses”

After 48 short years God has shown His servant great marvelous answers to prayer

Psalm 34: 6-8

This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

I remember a story of long ago. How a poor shepherd boy became a King one day through the goodness of God. So that the King always whenever he goes to God in prayer. He will close the door. Took out his poor shepherd clothes and after putting aside his Kingly rope he will put on those old sheperd’s clothes & kneel before God

This is how I should always remember when approaching God. I am the “poor man” that cried. Not just once or twice but a life long crying to God. This promise cannot fail “This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles”

May we refresh all with our Introduction since year 2011 (10th Anniversary now since this Prayer Website was set up to the Praise of His Glory)

What is possible for God Almighty to do, prayer can do. I have spent a very blessed  40 years observing and proving God to be true to His Word,    “Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkingness of the LORD (Psalm 107:43).”  These things refer to four catastrophic events in the  Book of Psalm 107,   men in starvation  “Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them (vs. 5)”.  Men in despair “..they fell down, and there was none to help (vs. 12).  Men in danger of loosing their lives “..they draw near unto the gates of death {vs.18).  And seaman like John Newton   “They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the  deep. For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof. They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble.  They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wit’s end. (vs.23-27)”  All these four groups in total helplessness finally  turn to God  “THEN THEY CRY UNTO THE LORD IN THEIR TROUBLE,  AND HE BRINGETH THEM OUT OF THEIR DISTRESSES (vs. 6, 13, 19 & 28)”.  Amazing Grace! How sweet The Sound!   ‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear. And grace my fears relieved.” And the Bible mentions 4 times  “OH THAT MEN WOULD PRAISE THE LORD FOR HIS GOODNESS, AND FOR HIS WONDERFUL WORKS TO THE CHILDREN  OF MEN!” (vs. 8,15,21 &31)

I want to share with you that our God is the Living God!  He constantly  hear and answer  prayers, not just once in awhile, but consistently and without fail for 40 long years. He has exalted His Word above His Name;  therefore HIS PROMISES CANNOT FAIL!

”  Faith –  Mighty Faith !

The Promise sees:

Laugh at unbelieve;

And cry,  “IT SHALL BE DONE!”

I can testify 1st hand these true words  ” This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles (Psalm34:6}” And “The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him (vs.7&8)”

The God who sent down fire when Elijah prayed, the Risen Lord Jesus who appeared to Paul on Damascus road, the God of George Mueller and John Sung is the same Living God today.

As this poem say,

“God is seeking faithful men

Who dare to stand alone

Counting not the sacrifice

To make His purpose known.

Now God searches all the earth

To show His Strength to men!

Those whose hearts are pure toward God

Can know His Power again!”

Please pray for the anointing of the Holy Spirit  as you read.   May our GOOD  LORD be a living, bright reality  all the days of your life. Marantha!

Yours Till We Meet In The Air,

Calvin E.Y. Tan    (September 2011)

Our LORD’s Coming is nearer today than 10 years ago. His coming is drawing nearer and nearer each last day

And the greatest thing in all my life is knowing, loving & serving Him

BEND THE CHURCH AND SAVE THE WORLD, REVIVALIST EVAN ROBERT

As we prayed and searched our heart I used to hear Rev Matthew Khoo’s oft repeated song

  1. Search me, O God, and know my heart today,
    Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts, I pray;
    See if there be some wicked way in me;
Cleanse me from every sin, and set me free.
  2. I praise Thee, Lord, for cleansing me from sin;
    Fulfill Thy word and make me pure within;
    Fill me with fire, where once I burned with shame;
Grant my desire to magnify Thy name.
  3. Lord, take my life, and make it wholly Thine;
    Fill my poor heart with Thy great love divine;
    Take all my will, my passion, self and pride;
I now surrender, Lord, in me abide.
  4. O Holy Ghost, revival comes from Thee;
    Send a revival, start the work in me;
    Thy Word declares Thou wilt supply our need;
For blessings now, O Lord, I humbly plead.

By J. Edwin Orr

As we drew nearer and nearer to God more and more hidden sins surfaced

I remembered I borrowed 2 library books from my lower secondary School, at San Peng Road, KL

The 2 Books were by Roderick Haig-Brown: 1) STAR BUCK VALLEY WINTER. 2) SALT WATER SUMMER

One was about hunting and trapping animals in winter. The other was about fishing in the summer.

I read them with relish before I was converted. Now that I got saved I found the content still inspiring but the language was offensive with vulgarity.

I returned those 2 books at first opportunity when I returned to KL for the holiday.

Another thing I did was to pay back for the rambutans I stole in year 1969. I only found out the Mansion at 216, Jalan Pudu belonged to the Late Cheong Yoke Choy who owned that Big Mansion with Huge Land which was sold to Berjaya Times Square as it stands today. I put Rm10 in an envelope and with a note of apology for taking those rambutans. I was surprised to receive a reply from one of his grand son., who wrote something like this, “Your letter has been received and we have donated the Rm10 to charity. When you are in K.L do feel free to drop by for a visit”.

Visit I did, it is THE SHOPPING MALL CALLED BERJAYA TIMES SQUARE, KL , today.

So many things have changed.

Another sin of commission I remembered was one night I followed some naughty boy and sneaked inside the Merdeka Football Stadium to watch football.

I sent Rm10 to the FAM (Football Association of Malaysia) and they replied, “Thank you for your contribution. We welcome you to watch more football matches.” By this time I had completely lost all desire to watch football or even go to cinemas

There were many other sins of commission, omission & ignorance as The Holy Spirit brought up and I got to clear them by confession & restitution

I just realised I was an awful sinner. As Paul said, ‘Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners of whom I am the chief”

This spirit of confession & restitution permeated SOM in year 1976 at 22, Jalan Belang, Off Upper Thompson Road, Singapore

As God moved in  us The Holy Spirit started to save the surrounding inhabitants.

Lo & behold! Brother Bee Hin won a convert few doors away

He is the Rev. Tan Eng Thye today (Assistant to Rev. Dr. Matthew, current Chinese Pastor of Singapore JSM))

It was so co-incidental that his name is Tan Eng Thye with the 1st two words same as Tan Eng Yee

Tan Eng Thye was later called to serve God & joined SOM.  When letters arrived I would take hold of them only to be told by Tan Eng Thye to double check. Sure enough they were some that addressed Tan Eng Thye and not mine.

And more surprising

See our past post

APRIL 2021

A REWARDER

OF THEM THAT

DILIGENTLY

SEEK HIM

The years were 1977/8

The Place: Jesus Saves Mission, Bkt Ho Swee, Tiong Bahru, Singapore

One evening after Sunday Worship we found out we had no money. No money to take bus fare back to SOM (School of Mission) in Admiralty Road, Sembawang

Both Paul & myself were from Malaysia. With S$80 for monthly allowance for food, expenses & transport we usually run out of money half way through the month

Rest of the time we live by faith

And so on this night we found ourselves with no money

But we had faith. Faith in the Invisible Living God

So lifting up his hand Paul prayed. Then I prayed

Dear Almighty God

Thank you for the wonderful time of Preaching & Teaching today. We rejoice in this time of Thy visitation in revival

Now your servants got need. Please help us and provide for our fares back to SOM

Map from Hdb Membina Court, 26A Jln Membina, Singapore 162026 to Admiralty Rd

About 30 km distance away is our destination

Between that we had no money but only Faith in Him

30 km will be a long walk after serving God in Soul winning (12 noon) Adult Bible Study Class (3pm), Worship Service (4pm to 6pm) on a happy but tired day

As we walked towards Tiong Bahru to take the bus there. Almost more than halfway God sent His “angel” of deliverance in the person of bro Eng Thye (Now Rev Tan Eng Thye)

He paid for our fares just at the most crucial moment

The chain of divine guidance is so mysterious indeed

After I left Penang JSM in year 1981 (having served there for 2 years plus from 1979 to early 1981 it was Brother Tan Eng Thye who went up from Singapore to Penang and served for several years

Penang is an Island with the best food.

And Brother Eng Thye said, “PREACH HARD! EAT HARD! FISH HARD!”

The Penang people bought him a fishing Rod. When i was there I only did fishing with hand lines as i could not afford a fishing rod

BUT THANK ALMIGHTY GOD. WE FISHED FOR SOULS RATHER THAN FISHES

Now being a Singaporean Brother Eng Thye is only allowed to stay up to limited weeks before he has to get his passport extended

He told me how he managed to stay in Malaysia so long

He gave these reasons why he needed to get extended stay:

He said, “Sister problem”, then “Brother problem” & “FAMILY PROBLEM”

Indeed The Christian Family is dearer than our own earthly family

See this

And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s,

30But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

READ MORE CAREFULLY

JESUS SAID

But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions

WE LEFT ONE HOUSE FOR HIS KINGDOM SAKE

WE SHALL RECEIVE AN HUNDREDFOLD NOW IN THIS TIME (PRESENT TENSE)

YES, I HAVE BEEN INVITED TO MANY HOMES FOR MEALS & SOME TIME STAYED IN THE HOMES OF GREAT CHRISTIAN COMPANY WHEN I WAS SERVING THE GOOD LORD

READ AGAIN

But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions

AMEN AND AMEN

THE SEARCHING WORDS OF REBUKE BY DR. JOHN SUNG IN “I REMEMBER JOHN SUNG” By William Schubert

Dear Praying Friends,

“I REMEMBER JOHN SUNG came like a scorching flame over our souls with deep deep conviction as we read & reread his words

He mentioned The Holy Spirit  fell in NANCHANG PENTECOST

And we quote

V.   THE NANCHANG PENTECOST

During this time Dr. Sung preached three times a day, and every time like a house afire.  He wore out the paint on the platform, and they asked him to wear rubber-soled shoes.  He would come back to our house, take off all his wet garments, and throw them “plop” out of his room into the hall, as I had suggested, and our amah would wash them — three sets a day!

One noon we had all our Fu River pastors come to our house for lunch with Dr. Sung, including Hsiung Fei, our district superintendent.  Hsiung was a bright and capable man, but he was very proud.  He asked Dr. Sung: “This morning you said that some leader in our work would betray Christ as Judas did.  What advice would you give us, so that we would not be that leader?” Dr. Sung replied like a flash: “Don’t be a leader.”  Hsiung Fei dropped his head like he had been shot.  No one said anything, for all knew that leadership was Hsiung’s temptation.

I Sin Every Day”

One day, Dr. Sung, in speaking about sin, said, “I sin every day myself.” I was struck to the heart.  Here was this man, whom the students almost worshipped, condoning sin, which Jesus had condemned.  That night I spent the night in prayer for him.  This, unfortunately, is only once of a very few times that I have spent a night in prayer for anyone.  The next morning, after breakfast, I asked him to come into our living room.  I pointed my finger at him, as he would do to others, and said, “Dr. Sung, you are of the devil.” He exclaimed, “Wha-what?”  I said, “Jesus told us, ‘He that sinneth is of the devil’, and yesterday you said that you sin every day.” I never heard him condone sin again, or preach a “sinning religion.”

At the end of the first two weeks, Dr. Sung announced on Sunday morning that he would not preach that night, that he would pray, and any who wanted to pray with him could come: “If six or eight or ten come, that is all right.” In the afternoon 193 students and teachers went to a village, Bean Sprout Lane, about two miles outside the city.  I had conducted a “Thousand Character School” there in previous years, but nobody had been converted.  The students and teachers went two by two into the village homes to witness.  They would come out of the houses with the villagers bringing their idols.  The stone idols they threw into the river.  The wooden ones they burned.  The entire village gave up idolatry.

Water Baptism and Holy Ghost Baptism

On the way back it “rained pitchforks”, a tremendous rain.  Only one student had an umbrella, and the wind turned it inside out.  The water was running down over their faces, and their hair was plastered down over their foreheads.  But they came to me with shining faces, saying, “Mr. Schubert, John the Baptist said, ‘I baptize with water, but Jesus will baptize you with the Holy Ghost.’ We are getting our water baptism now; maybe we will get our Holy Ghost baptism tonight.” And that is exactly what happened.

That evening, instead of the six or eight or ten coming, there were 250 to 300 present in the Baldwin School chapel.  The place was filled.  Dr. Sung had us sing some choruses about prayer. Then he told us to pray.  But nobody prayed.  It was rather embarrassing at first.  Then two little high school girls stood up and began to pray at the same time.  I can still see their double braids. We had never had that; never more than one person prayed at the one time.  I remembered what Gypsy Smith had told about when he was preaching in a “Gothic” church in Virginia, controlled by a “Gothic lady”.  When two persons prayed at the same time, this “Gothic lady” said, “Mr. Smith, you tell them to stop; we can’t have two persons praying at the same time.” He told her, “Sister, God has two ears.”

The Holy Spirit Fell on All Present

Just then the Holy Spirit fell on everybody.  All began to pray at once.  There was no rushing wind, and there were no tongues that I know of.  But God spoke to everyone in Chinese, and it seemed the natural thing to pray in Chinese, with utterance beyond what I had ever experienced.  God spoke to me in Chinese, and I prayed in torrents of Chinese.

At first, Dr. Sung was very much surprised, and not pleased.  He called out for us to stop: “We don’t want any fanaticism here.”  I don’t think he had ever been in a place where all prayed at one time, though later in his meetings it often happened.  Later, it became common, and still is practiced in Taiwan and among most evangelical Chinese groups everywhere.  But at the time we had never seen or heard it before.  The whole outburst was unplanned and spontaneous — a moving of the Holy Spirit.  But that night in March 1931 Dr. Sung stopped us.

He asked all to go to their rooms and pray quietly.  He said, “Now I’ll pronounce the benediction.” But as he prayed, the Holy Spirit fell the second time, and everybody began to pray in chorus again.  Again he stopped us: “You didn’t understand; I didn’t say to pray here; please go quietly to your rooms and pray there.” I later asked him why he stopped us, and he told me, “I didn’t want the missionaries to say ‘That crazy Sung made all the students crazy.’”

Communist Students Converted

Then, as he began to pronounce the benediction again, the Holy Spirit fell upon the whole congregation the third time.  So he finally let us go on, and the spontaneous prayer must have continued forty-five minutes to an hour.  Christians got under conviction and confessed their sins.  There were about seven or eight communist students, who later confessed that they had been paid to come there to school to cause trouble.

These communist students were in the center of rows, scattered throughout the audience where they could make the most disturbance.  When they got under conviction, they tried to get out, but the Christian students wouldn’t let them out of the rows.  The Christian students had been praying for them.  I can remember seeing the Christian students beating their own knees for joy when the young communists got so under conviction.  All the agitators could do was to stand up and beat their breasts and cry out, “Oh, my unspeakable sins.”  They all became earnest Christians.

VI.   ALL MY PREACHERS BORN AGAIN THAT NIGHT

When the Holy Spirit fell on us that night in Nanchang, all the Chinese preachers from my Fu River District had come in for the district conference.  The Kan River and Nanchang District pastors were there also, as well as the students and teachers of both high schools and the doctors and nurses of our Methodist Nanchang Hospital.

Up to that time most of my pastor friends had not been born again, I fear, though I had worked with them for several years, and had prayed for them, and had talked and preached the New Birth.  But that night I think every one of them was born again, including Pastor Wang Shan-chih.  I had been his assistant pastor several years before, in the big institutional church in Nanchang.  He once confessed to me: “Mr. Schubert, I don’t even know if there is a God.”  I exclaimed, “Why, Pastor Wang, how can you be a Methodist pastor when you don’t even know if there is a God?”

He replied, “I believed in God until I went to America.  But there I lost my faith while in Union Theological Seminary.  Later, when I was visiting in England during the war, I went to see Oxford University.  There I saw the pictures of the great preachers, and I thought, ‘It is all empty.’ But something said to me, ‘No, anything that can produce men like this, there must be something to it’.”

That was the extent of his theology: “There must be something to it.”  Someone asked me, “What did he preach?”  He preached Comparative Religion.  In his big institutional church, which he patterned after some he had seen in America, he had an English school (which I ran the year I was with him), a library, a reading room, and many social activities.  In that way he eased his conscience, but he wasn’t able to preach any Gospel of salvation.

Calvin comments:

The power of God came upon THE NANCHANG PENTECOST and that was the pivotal change of Dr. John Sung into a Revival Preacher. Many Pastors of those times were converted and genuinely born again.

Today, the Churches all over the world are filled with unsaved Preachers & Pastors preaching a man centered social gospel with “prosperity” and not God as the main focus.

Then we came to this heart searching chapters written for converts

IX.  CLOSE DEALING WITH SEEKERS

Another secret of Dr. Sung’s lasting success was the thorough work he did with seekers. He not only preached unsparing two-hour sermons three times a day, but then he would have altar services in which he asked searching questions.  He would name sins, and have seekers all over the big church raise their hands when he mentioned their particular sin.

I thought because I was a missionary, and his close friend, and was there to learn, that I could look.  But he pointed at me and said in English, in no uncertain tone: “Shut your eyes.” I did! However, I took rather full notes of his Nanking sermons and altar work. (See Chapter X and Appendix.)

As he would name their sins, and they would respond to each sin mentioned, and acknowledge by raising their hands by scores, and sometimes by hundreds, he would say: “Will you make restitution? Will you ask forgiveness? Will you forgive this person? Will you return the money you stole? Will you make right the wrong you did?” Some questions were:

Questions Dr. Sung Asked Seekers in Nanking, May 1937:

DO YOU HATE?  Father, mother, brother, sister, teachers, grandmother, daughter-in-law, husband, wife, friend, children, fellow workers, students.  Have you not talked to them for years?  Do you hate in your heart?  Do you hate to the very bone?  Are you willing to write to them?  You must ask forgiveness, face to face, or write.  If you will, raise your hand.  Now pray:  “Lord forgive.” Have you done it?  Pray: “Lord, I will forgive; I will write.” Raise your hand if you will.  There was a widespread response, and many tears.

MONEY STEALING: Did you “borrow” and “forget” to return things, or don’t want to return them? $100? $1000? $50? $5? 5 cents? 5 coppers?  On the train, did you borrow from a friend, and not return a handkerchief, books, an umbrella?  If you have no money now, return it later.  If they have died or you don’t know their address, give it to the poor, or to the church.  If you are willing, raise your hand!  Promise aloud. (These questions might apply in your church.  You might try using them.)

STEAL: Did you steal from your parents, from your husband, wife, friends, or your business partner?  Did you help others steal, and keep quiet?  Did you take public funds, much or a few cents?  Did you cheat God?  Did you steal a letter?  Did you cheat in examinations?  Did you use false stamps?  Did you steal $500? $60?  One cent?  From birth to now? Return it! Pray aloud: “When I arise from my knees, Lord, I’ll return it.” Bracelet, rings, handkerchief, books, umbrella, toys, food, fruit, flowers?  Did you use public things for personal use, such as office paper?  Did you ride on a pass when you had no right?  Pay back the fare!  Did you pick up something not yours? $500? $50? 50 cents?  One cent?  Or books?  Umbrella? (Oft repeated: there must have been a lot of umbrellas taken!) Maybe someone left something in your room.  Return it. (In Peiping, officials returned thousands of dollars to the Chinese government after Dr. Sung’s meetings.  It greatly impressed other officials.)

DID YOU COMMIT ADULTERY?  From the beginning to today?  Did you almost?  Mentally?  With people in your own family, sister, brother, man and man, woman and woman, with animals?  Have you been guilty of self-abuse?  Did you take someone’s wife or husband?  Or concubine, or someone’s else concubine?  Before marriage? (Is this too close?  Will you go on reading?)

DID YOU KILL?  By abortion, by poison, or other way?  Have you entered the communist party?

HABIT:  Do you gamble?  Play mahjong, drink, use cigarettes, opium, heroin, wine?  Do you sell opium, cigarettes, morphine, idol worship materials?  Do you buy or sell lottery tickets? Do you dance, go to movies, read bad books?  Do you look at pornographic pictures?  BURN THEM!

SINS IN THE FAMILY: Do you beat members of your family?  Do you sell servants or slaves?  Do you lend money at a high rate of interest?  Are you disobedient to your parents?  Do you quarrel with your sister-in-law, or others? Will you write a letter asking forgiveness?

SUPERSTITION:  Do you worship idols or ancestors, or the picture of Sun Yat-sen?  Do you draw lots or go to fortune tellers?  Do you eat idol food?  On Sunday, do you buy or sell food? (Travel if necessary, and buy a little food, is O.K. —Sung) Do you omit Bible study?  Have you stopped praying?  Do you testify for Christ?  Have you kept your vows?

INNER SINS: Do you still have the old temper, jealousy, pride, covetousness, backsliding, blasphemy?  Have you an unforgiving spirit?  Did you want to commit suicide?  Have you an unbelieving heart? and not believe the Bible?  Do you doubt God, and think God is unjust?  When you were sick, did you make some promise to God, then when well did you forget your promise?  Do you worry, and have no faith?  Put your worry on God, not on yourself.  Did you blame God when someone died?  Did you ask.  “Where is God?” Did you bear false witness? Did you criticize people?  Did you write a false letter home?  Did you make love for fun, then give up? Do you have jealousy in your heart, and fight for position? Do you love the world?

Dr. Sung asked many more questions; then had everyone pray a prayer of praise, and sing: “For me, for me, it was for me the Savior died.”

Dr. Sung prayed, and all said, “Amen.” He told me later, for more questions see the Free Church Common Prayer Liturgy of Confession.  When I asked at lunch that day if people really did all these things, he told me that he didn’t ask the worst things people had confessed to him.

In year 1972 September 15 I got saved when the precious blood of Jesus washed away all my sins.

But this is entirely new to me.

When i read, “From birth to now?”

The Holy Spirit flashed before my very eyes the past 16 years before I became a Christian

And these were the sins which I sought to make restitution. Many might not agree but the Spirit of God was upon me in deep conviction

  1. I remembered living in KL Bukit Bintang Slum (Where Sun Complex) stood today

About the age of 7 to 8 I saw a little girl with a black purse in the shape of elephant. I stole that purse and inside it was 65 sen coins.

I also remembered when I was in Standard 4, Shaw Road Primary School, KL I stole a wooden pencil box from my classmate.

Then as I prayed & resolved to amend more sins appeared. When I was staying in the Slum the Federal Hotel in Jln Bukit Bintang was building a Revolving 2nd Building at the Back with a Relvolving Restaurant at the Top. As my friends passed by I  stole some cement to make fish tanks. I also stole the toilet rolls & paper napkins.

One night I was with a gangster boy entering into the Big Housing Estate to steal rambutans. After the first time we again entered the second time. This time the security guard was alerted & he ran. So I followed. At the gate just as i was climbing over I was hit by an iron rod in great pain.

My  father sent me to see the doctor. And i told a lie that i got into an accident

All these were sins after sins that came before. Years later I tried to sent money to those i could trace. Those I could not trace I gave them to Old Folks Home or Church Offerings. As Zacchaeus said that he will return 4 times what he had extorted.

But there was one sin that came before me

DO YOU HATE?  Father, mother, brother, sister, teachers, grandmother, daughter-in-law, husband, wife, friend, children, fellow workers, students.  Have you not talked to them for years?  Do you hate in your heart?  Do you hate to the very bone?  Are you willing to write to them?  You must ask forgiveness, face to face, or write.  If you will, raise your hand.  Now pray:  “Lord forgive.” Have you done it?  Pray: “Lord, I will forgive; I will write.” Raise your hand if you will.  There was a widespread response, and many tears

Have you not talked to them for years?

Yes, in SOM there was a brother from KL called Isaiah Choe. He was the Proctor for year 1975.

I was then a first year newbie. A total green horn. Very slow. And I was a problem for all especially Isaiah who was the Proctor.

1975 passed eventually and early in year 1976 New Batch of SOMERs gathered in PK Jesus Saves Mission to elect a new proctor for year 1976

I was totally unprepared and it never occur to me as well.

Every one is given a blank piece of paper to write the name he/she wants to be the Proctor

At the tally Isaiah Choe’s name came up. And my name came up. Only 2 names & we got equal number of votes. So it was a tie.

Round two

Again to my surprise we got 50/50 votes again. It was a tie. Then Rev. Dr. Peter Ng said, “Let us pray” before casting the third time

As the counting neared the end my name was  chosen

At that I bowed my head with a deep burden

And that was the start of a strained relationship between me & brother Isaiah

We could not talk as usual. Did i became over bearing or what? Some how there was a barrier between us.

And the Words of Dr. John Sung burned within. “Get right with brother Isaiah Chow”

So I humbled myself, approached Isaiah and confessed my faults to him. And he did likewise.

It was a glorious time of great victory as we prayed from 8pm to 10pm in SOM, 22 Jalan Belang, Singapore for the rest of year 1976, notwithstanding other crisis and trials that befell us

Of all songs this one from Psalm 23  stood out

“My soul He doth restore again

And me to walk doth make

Within the path of righteousness

Even for His own Name sake”

Amen & Amen

Note: This searching & confessions happened in year 1976

Next year in 1977 God met with us in the REVIVAL CAMP of Penang Hill in a very marvelous glorious way

It was Revivalist Evan Robert who said, “Bend the Church and save the world”

Or should we say, “Bend the Pastors and save the Church”
