REMEMBERING THOMAS LIM OF BEREAN BOOK CENTRE MINISTRY TIME (CIRCA 1982 – 1987)

Dear Praying Friends,

We received a message this week about the passing of Brother Thomas Lim

It brought back to the blessed Memory of Years 1982 to 1987 when we started the Book Room Ministry in Kuala Lumpur JSM

When the Book Room was set up to promote good Fundamental Christian Books we also contacted SWORD OF THE LORD PUBLISHERS by John R. Rice

Among them are many Gospel Sermon Booklets which we distributed

One day we received a Letter from Curtis Hudson of THE SWORD OF THE LORD, USA

Curtis Hutson (July 10, 1934 – March 5, 1995) was an Independent Fundamental Baptist pastor and editor of The Sword of the Lord (1980-1995).

Curtis Hutson was born in Decatur, Georgia, to a barber and hair dresser, the second of five children. He attended Avondale High School where he met his future wife, Barbara (Gerri) Crawford. They began dating after graduation while Hutson was working at Scottdale Textile Mill. They married in 1952 and had four children: Sherry, Donna, Kay, and Dr. Tony Hutson.

While working as a mail carrier, Hutson preached at church services and revivals in the Atlanta area. In 1956 he conducted a revival at the tiny Forrest Hills Baptist Church of Scottdale. By the end of the week, Hutson had filled the fifty seats in the church, the pastor had resigned, and Hutson was called to replace him. Although he had no formal training, Hutson served as pastor while continuing to work for the post office.

In 1961, Hutson heard Jack Hyles, Tom Malone and John R. Rice preach at nearby Antioch Baptist Church. During that Sword of the Lord conference, Hyles gave a two-hour soul-winning lecture. Hutson was convicted that he too should aggressively win the lost to Christ. The following Saturday he led three people to the Lord. “Every week thereafter for a number of years he led someone to Christ.”[1] He began to preach about soul winning, and his congregation began to follow his example. In 1967 Hutson quit the post office to become a full-time pastor—at first for a salary of $75 a month. Between 1969 and 1972, the church grew from 350 to 2,300 members. In 1976, when Hutson resigned after 20 years of pastoring, church membership was 7,900.

Entering full-time evangelism, Hutson held area-wide evangelistic meetings from 1977 to 1980. From 1974 to 1980, he also served as president of the now defunct Baptist University of America near Atlanta. Hutson was gifted in using humor to engage an audience, and he memorized one-liners and funny stories topically so that he would have a collection of ready jokes on any subject.[2]

In 1978, John R. Rice invited Hutson to become the associate editor of the fundamentalist newspaper The Sword of the Lord based in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Two years later, Rice died and Hutson became editor. He served in this position for the remainder of his life while continuing to preach in churches across America.

In 1992 Hutson was diagnosed with prostate cancer, of which he died in March 1995. Shelton Smith became his successor at The Sword of the Lord.

We promoted free of Charge for Book Club Members (THE SWORD OF THE LORD) they only paid subscription fees. Among the vivid readers Joshua Law Hung Wei.

Enclosed in the letter Dr Curtis sent was a filled up form to request for more Free Literature by a Thomas Lim from Petaling Jaya

With the good lead we immediately left to see Brother Thomas who accepted Christ in readiness of mind.

Thomas was a piano Teacher and through Thomas we see more conversions of his Music students – among them are Kenny Tai Kin Ee, Joshua Low Hung Wei, Bro. Kim Cheong Yew & others. Later they went to join the Calvary Jaya Bp Church in PJ. Bro Cheong Yew later left for A Bp Church in UK

IT WAS INDEED A VERY BLESSED TIME TO SEE THE FRUITS OF THE BEREAN BOOK CENTRE Ministry

Below are some Photos (Circa 1980s)

Note: The Shelves are custom made by Bro Mark Chay Kok Keong who offered his carpentry service freely. And some display sheves we scavenged from unwanted discards. So the Book Room was set up at very very minimal cost by painstaking efforts of volunteers.

Note:

BEREAN BOOK CENTRE

Derived the Word Berean from Acts 17: 10a, 11 & 12

And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea

“These were more noble than those in Thessalonica,

in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

THEREFORE MANY OF THEM BELIEVED; ALSO OF HONORABLE WOMEN WHICH WERE GREEKS, AND OF MEN, NOT A FEW.”

  1. THEY WERE OF A DIFFERENT CLASS

THE BEREANS WERE MORE NOBLE MINDED (IN COMPARISON TO THOSE OF THESSALONICA)

2. THEY WERE DEVOUT

in that they received THE WORD

3. THEY WERE DEDICATED

with all readiness of mind

4. THEY MAKE THEIR OWN DECISIONS

and searched the Scriptures

5. THEY WERE DILIGENT

and searched the Scriptures daily (OR DAY BY DAY)

6. THEY WERE DISCERNING

whether those things were so.

7. THEY WERE DECIDED!

THEREFORE MANY OF THEM BELIEVED

8. THEY CREATED DUPLICATES

ALSO OF HONORABLE WOMEN WHICH WERE GREEKS, AND OF MEN, NOT A FEW.”

BECAUSE THESE WERE NOBLE MINDED MANY HONORABLE PEOPLE GET SAVED

BEREAN BOOK CENTRE CREATED A FOLLOWING OF THOSE WHO ARE NOBLE MINDED

AND HONORABLE CHRISTIANS

THOSE DOWN AND OUT NEED TO BE SAVED

BUT GOD ALSO WANT TO SAVE THOSE WHO ARE UP AND OUT

DO NOT LIMIT THE INFINITE WISDOM OF OUR ALMIGHTY LIVING GOD

Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

Dear Praying Friends

This post is very blessed and memorable. It brings back the Great Faithfulness of Our Loving Saviour’s encouragement in a time of great testing.

These words came in power in year 1977/8 BHS JSM time

Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:

10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

To understand these words let us go back in time to those testing days.

After year 1976 in Craig Road Jsm the call to serve in BHS JSM lasted for two years – 1977 & 1978

Year of 1977 in BHS Jsm started with 4 Brothers in the 1st Men Fellowship.

All through year 1977 we had a blessed time of Worship, Doctrinal Class, Student’s Club, Bible Study & Prayer Meetings

By Year end we had the BLESSED REVIVAL CAMP ON PENANG HILL where more than 30 Young Men & Young Women were called to Full Time Service

After the Revival Camp Bro Lucky (Amos) said we should go to the Mission Stations to do Evangelism Work

Only God knows much later BHS Jsm will be the chosen Mission to hold that 1978 Evangelistic Campaign

But not so easy

THERE WAS OPPOSITION FROM THE POWERS OF DARKNESS

See next entry in our 1978 Diary (Journal) dated 2nd January 1978

We quote verbatim

Brother Lucky spoke to J.K. AND Karen this morning.

Announced the conflict in the Mission. Sister B. broke down and wept. Had a talk with her.

Above tells us there was conflict ongoing then

Now see this entry below

“Was oppressed by evil spirits to-night. Heard a whole gang downstairs. Rebuked them sharply in Jesus Name.

We wept when brother Lucky depart for Penang.

What actually happened in BHS JSM on that night in January 2nd 1978?

BHS JSM was a Corner HDB Shophouse with 2 Storey. Ground Floor is used as a Kindergarten in the Week Days. Children Used Those Benches as Desk for their Study.  These same Benches are Used as Church Pews for Church Services during the Weekends.  On Saturday there is a lively, vibrant Student’s Club & on Sunday a hive of activities : Soul Winning at 12 noon. Adult Bible Study Class at 3pm & Sunday Afternoon Worship at 4pm.

Upstairs is a Hall with 2 Rooms

I used to sleep upstair in the Hall

This particular night of nights I heard a whole gang of evil spirits “DRUMMING” the Benches downstairs.

The noise gets louder and Louder and LOUDER until it was unbearable so I got up

and said, “I COMMAND YOU EVIL SPIRITS TO LEAVE IN THE NAME OF JESUS!!!”

At that the whole place fell silence.

That was the beginning of a battle.

The powers of darkness fiercely oppose;

When slaves from their bonds we free.

Our path may beset with desperate foes;

But none of these things move me”

By The Marecale (daughter of William Booth

To be continued…

(Above as quoted)

Now there were these misgivings

  1. A young brother came up and said, “I don’t trust you”.
  2. Brother Lucky spoke to J.K. AND Karen this morning.Announced the conflict in the Mission. Sister B. broke down and wept. Had a talk with her.
  3.  Another by the name of C.P brought me to a coffee shop and wanting to talk. Arriving there I was surprised to see Bro Chin Seng who had left JSM and now spoke opposing words.

I told C.P, “Why you purposely put me in a difficult position as SOMers are not allowed to meet with those who left Mission for whatever reason”

4. 2 to 3 Law Students And one by the Name of L. spoke against me. Then all left the Mission

5. One active Sister in leadership from BHS Jsm  left to start another Church with a Leading Brother from Craig Road Jsm.

6 .In the Men’s Fellowship what happened?

See

Year of 1977 in BHS Jsm started with 4 Brothers in the 1st Men Fellowship.

Above 100 members or more only less than 4% of the Men were out for Men Fellowship

Conditions were quite deplorable and lots of undercurrents in discontent

In my lowest moment forsaken by almost all came these words of promise in power

“Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:

10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

Contemporary English Version
I am with you, and you won’t be harmed. Many people in this city belong to me.

Persecution befell Paul everywhere

[11] Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. [12] Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. In Thessalonica he fled to Berea; from Berea he fled to Athen; from Athen he fled to Corinth

Here in Corinth the LORD said,

Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:

10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have many people in this city.

Since the LORD said He has many people in Corinth Paul stayed there longer for another 1 year and 6 months

God being the Faithful God saved many many souls in Corinth

Paul wrote 14 of the 27 New Testament Books

And he wrote 2 Epistles to the Corinthian Church: 1 Corinthians & 2 Corinthians

Romans, Galatians, Colossian, Ephesians, Philemon only got one letter each. God sent two letters to the Corinthians

The only other Church is Thessalonica which God also gave 2 letters. He also wrote 2 letters to Timothy regarding the Pastorate and one to Titus

he Bible’s Way to Heaven

by Pastor John Khng

1) All Have Sinned
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” – Rom. 3:23
The “All” includes you and me.

2) Sin’s Penalty
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” – Rom. 6:23

3) Christ Paid the Penalty
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” – Rom. 5:8

4) Salvation is a Gift of God
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.” – Eph. 2:8,9.

5) You must Repent from your sin and put your Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” – Rom 10:9-10
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” – John 1:12

6) The Bible’s Invitation
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Rom. 10:13 The “whosoever” includes you and me. God invites you to “call” or pray to Him. Will you do this right now?

7) Prayer for Salvation
Dear Almighty God,
Please be merciful to me, a sinner. I would like to repent of my sins and to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. I believe that He died on the cross for my sins, was buried and rose again the third day. I would like to receive Him into my heart right now to save me from my sins. Thank you that through trusting the Lord Jesus Christ, I am now a child of God and have eternal life. Help me from today onward to worship you faithfully, read the Bible regularly, pray and live the Christian life with your help and grace. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen!

Please write to Pastor John Khng at calvarysg@yahoo.com to inform him about your prayer for salvation and how you have become a Christian. He would like to rejoice together with you and to help you grow spiritually in the knowledge and faith of our Lord Jesus Christ.

May all Glory and Honor be unto the Lamb that was slain for us
Amen and Amen

ONLY ONE LIFE TWILL SOON BE PASSED AWAY; ONLY ONE CHANCE I MUST NOT THROW AWAY (STORY OF C.T.STUDD, With Comments by Calvin Tan

Dear Praying Friends,

We first heard of C.T. Studd’s famous words, “ONLY ONE LIFE TWILL SOON BE PAST; ONLY WHAT’S DONE FOR CHRIST WILL LAST” from Rev. Cliff Hunnitcut, Jr of Harvester Baptist Church, Singapore in year 1977/78

Rev. Cliff Hunnicut, Jr , Missionary from USA to India and then Singapore gave his life for Christ with full zeal. He preached with all his might and compassion.

He was fully for the Service of Jesus. We were surprised although he was in Singapore he did not even visit Sentosa Island. As his life was totally spent for Christ and with no time to spare for earthly trifles.

Listened to these Words that inspired him & us

“ONLY ONE LIFE TWILL SOON BE PAST;

ONLY WHAT’S DONE FOR CHRIST WILL LAST”

And here is the Story of C.T. Studd

C.T. Studd: Gifted Athlete and Pioneering Missionary (2018) | Full Movie | John Holden

Incorporated into our Poem

3)I know a fount where sins are washed away
I know a place where night is turned to day.
Under his shadow the safest place I know.
All that I am or have to Him I gladly serve.
Only one life ’twill soon be passed away
Only one chance I must not throw away
Now I know I must give this life to
Him. to Him, to Him.

4.) There will I rest for all eternity
Here with my might I serve the Almighty.
For the time will come when we no longer can serve.
Therefore give him your best and all that He deserves.

Eternal life and endless is its days
Eternal joy and full of glory there
now I know I must live this life
for Him. for Him. for Him.

-adapted by Calvin Tan

Yes! We only have one life on earth to serve God. And only one chance which we should not throw away.

Life’s short years of 70,80 or 100 in comparison to eternity is actually a tiny dot in eternity

The days of our lives are three score and ten which is 70 years

By reason of strength it might be 80 years. And even if we could live till one hundred years old it is only 36,500 days

Yes! 365 days a year. If 100 years then 365 X 100 = 36,500 days.

Do you know how short are the days?

Just China alone there are more than 40,000 Cities, Towns & Villages

If you were to travel all of China Cities, Towns & Villages One Day at a Time

Your entire life of 36,500 days (if you can live till 100) also cannot cover all of them

Then what about the whole wide world out there?

Our time is so short. Don’t waste it. Don’t throw away the opportunity to serve Jesus.

May we use the rest of our days on earth in His Service.

Because

ONLY ONE LIFE TWILL SOON BE PAST;

ONLY WHAT’S DONE FOR CHRIST WILL LAST.”

Your Brother in Christ

Discipleship: Worship – Andrew Bernhardt's Home Page

Above: C.T. Studd gave up a Mansion in England

Inset: to live in a shed in Africa

His life was a witness to his words:

  1. Some wish to live within the sound of church or chapel bell, I want to run a rescue shop within a yard of hell.
  2. Only one life, ’twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last.
  3. If Jesus Christ be God and died for me, then no sacrifice can be too great for me to make for Him.
  4. The light that shines farthest shines brightest nearest home.
  5. God’s real people have always been called fanatics.
  6. The “romance” of a missionary is often made up of monotony and drudgery; there often is no glamor in it; it doesn’t stir a man’s spirit or blood. So don’t come out to be a missionary as an experiment; it is useless and dangerous. Only come if you feel you would rather die than not come. Don’t come if you want to make a great name or want to live long. Come if you feel there is no greater honor, after living for Christ, than to die for Him.
  7. The best cure for discouragement or qualms is another daring plunge of faith.
  8. Christ wants not nibblers of the possible, but grabbers of the impossible by faith in the omnipotence, fidelity, and wisdom of the Almighty Savior.

50TH ANNIVERSARY OF CALLING SINCE DECEMBER 13TH 1973 TILL THIS DAY OF HIS MANIFOLD GRACE

Dear Praying Friends in Jesus,

50 Years have come and gone since December 13th 1973

That night of night on Penang Hill Workers’ Conference 50 years ago still appear warm and vivid just like a short time

In the glorious Kingdom of God time just flew.

Now all Praise & Glory to Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God & our Coming KING of Kings & LORD of Lords

These living Words are Still Alive Today as it was 50 years, 500 years or 2,500 years ago when Prophet Isaiah wrote

Isaiah 43 (Kjv)

10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

11 I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour.

12 I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God.

Someone says, “Many are called but a few are chosen; many are cold and a few are frozen.”

The greatest fear is to be chosen by God and then get frozen by the world, the devil and the deceitfulness of life.

But the saddest will be those who never even get the chance to hear the call because no one share with them the gospel message for their entire life while on earth.

May our Good Lord pours His Grace & Fire into Our Souls as long as we have the breath to serve Him for another day, and another day till His Coming back again

And May the Good Lord Jesus stirs up all to come back to Him as time is getting very late before He comes.

Your Brother in Jesus Christ

Calvin

LIFE’S DESIRE

1.) I need the promised Holy Ghost;
To stir the gift, O LORD of hosts.
Create in me concrete desire;
To be for Thee a flame of fire.

2.) I need the presence of His Son;
From world and sin and self to turn.
To live by faith through God’s great grace;
And walk with Him in grateful praise.

3.) I need my Father’s guiding grace;
To spur me on the upward way.
Show me the path to man’s chief end;
Stay by my side, dear Heavenly Friend.

4.) Though weak and weary I fight on;
Till some from this wide world I’ve won.
Averting men from God’s great wrath
And turn them to the heavenly path.

5.) The promise of an endless life;
God welcomes you to claim the prize.
A thousand million years and more;
With Christ forever, forever more

Calvin E.Y. Tan

“Lord Jesus, I am weary in Thy work, but not of it. If I have not yet finished my course, let me go and speak for Thee once more in the field,

seal Thy truth, and come home to die.”

Evangelist George Whitefield

IF I REST, I RUST.

In heaven there will be Eternal Rest

GOD’S SECRET PLACE

1.) I know a place where no one ever goes
There’s peace and quiet, beauty and repose
Hidden in the valley beside the mountain stream
And lying there beside the stream I find that I can dream
Only of things that’s beauty to the eyes
Snow peaked mountains that towering to the sky
Now I know that God made this world for me.
for me, for me.

2.) I can imagine the wonder of the scene.
Climbing a moutain and down the steep ravine.
The lord invites you now why linger and delay
To make this place a heaven each and every day.
Oh how I wish I never have to leave
And all my life such beauty to receive.
Now I know that God made this world
for me, for me, for me.

3.) I know a fount where sins are washed away
I know a place where night is turned to day.
Under his shadow the safest place I know.
All that I am or have to Him I gladly serve.
Only one life ’twill soon be passed away
Only one chance I must not throw away
Now I know I must give this life to
Him. to Him, to Him.

4.) There will I rest for all eternity
Here with my might I serve the Almighty.
For the time will come when we no longer can serve.
Therefore give him your best and all that He deserves.

now I know I must live his life

EXCEEDING GREAT AND PRECIOUS PROMISES OF ALMIGHTY LIVING GOD IN THE BIBLE

Dear Praying Friends,

There once lived an invalid poor widow with very little comfort and means of life. A relative visited her and asked, “Do you have any dependents who give you financial support?”

She replied, “None, But there is a relative from a distant country which used to send me paper pictures. And I used them to cover the wall of my room.” Curious she requested to see those pictures. So she brought her to see them in her room.  And on the wall were covered with INTERNATIONAL MONEY ORDERS

“You are rich,” she exclaimed, “These are princely sums of Money to be Cashed & Use”

Yes, this is an illustration of how rich all Christians are

Almighty Living God has given us this

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

How Many Promises In The Bible?

Within the 66 books of the Bible, there are approximately 8,810 promises. As we acknowledge the scriptures were written by men who were inspired by God (2 Timothy 3:16-17), the promises we read in the Bible today all belong to God and will all certainly fulfill (Joshua 21:45, Joshua 23:14).

And all the promises of God are EXCEEDING GREAT & PRECIOUS

Every one of them. All sufficient for our lives. If only we will claim by faith and bring them into real life for living. Amen.

Now we would like to share 3 promises; the last one in two parts

  1. PSALM 2:8 “ASK OF ME, AND I SHALL GIVE THEE THE HEATHEN FOR THINE INHERITANCE, AND THE UTTERMOST PARTS OF THE EARTH FOR THY POSSESSION.”

2. ACTS 18:9&10) “THEN SPAKE THE LORD TO PAULIN THE NIGHT BY A VISION, BE NOT AFRAID, BUT SPEAK, AND HOLD NOT THY PEACE:  FOR I AM WITH THEE, AND NO MAN SHALL SET ON THEE TO HURT THEE: FOR I HAVE MUCH PEOPLE IN THIS CITY”

3,  JEREMIAH 16a “THOU SHALT NOT TAKE THEE A WIFE” Part One in year 1978. In year 1981 Part 2 is the Promised Answer. What was it? When time comes we will post, God willing

Dr Bob Jones, Sr used to say, “When God gives a command He always back it up with a Promise”

And these promises if obeyed will see God’s answers

The First Promise we shared applied to All of JSM in our 1978 Soul Winning Evangelistic Campaign. The Second Promise applies only to BHS JSM for years 1977 & 1978 till now. And the 3rd Promise is a very personal one. Will share this after more than 40 years

So Promises can be applied Universally, Locally & personally & everywhere where men will claim them from God by acting in faith. And They Are EXCEEDING GREAT AND PRECIOUS! AMEN TO GOD’S GLORY

Now back to the First Promise

  1. PSALM 2:8 “ASK OF ME, AND I SHALL GIVE THEE THE HEATHEN FOR THINE INHERITANCE, AND THE UTTERMOST PARTS OF THE EARTH FOR THY POSSESSION.”

Please refer to our past post 10 years ago in year 2013 (wow 10 years have come and gone)

September 3rd 1978 (SUNDAY)

My greatest fear is sin – especially at this time.

A wakened this LORD’s Day.  During the Adult Bible Class we went through an article on faith – “Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, OBTAINED PROMISES.. (Heb 11: 33)

We claimed Psalm2:8 “Ask of Me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance…”& Acts 18:9&10 : Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee; for I have much people in this city.” During Worship Rev {Dr) Peter Ng (Founder of Jesus Saves Mission)  spoke a clear, challenging message on the colt(Luke 19:30)

The Meeting Commenced tonight with more Christians. The place was filled. We felt liberty again in prayer. We bound Satan and prayed for the scales to fall from the eyes of the sinners. More souls were saves tonight. The PK Choir sang tonight.

Note:-  Throughout the entire message there is a group of brothers and sisters praying separately upstairs for power on the preacher and for souls to be saved. So great faith  were given that we boldly claimed the promises of God, “ASK OF ME..I WILL GIVE THEE THE HEATHEN FOR THINE INHERITANCE Psalm  2:8) I was praying for 10 souls to be saved but only 5 souls got saved. As I moved downstair to see the converts Brother Cheng Hong who was sitting on the stairs exclaimed, “Thank God for answering my prayer – 5 people accepted Christ as Saviour tonight.”  I gently chided him. “Don’t ask for 5, ask for 10 souls to be saved.” No wonder my prayer for 10 was blocked by your asking for only 5. And so we started to see 10 or more souls saved as the Campaign progressed.

PK Choir :  PK stands for Persiaran Keliling ( Choir from Curcuit Road Jesus Saves Mission) Macpherson, S’pore

Mr. Lim Cheng Hong is the deacon of Faith Independent Baptist Church.

September 4th 1978 (Monday)

Again felt liberty in prayer tonight during the Evangelist Meeting. Rev. Ng preached on “THE UPLIFTED CHRIST” More souls were moved and saved tonight. The BHS Student Choir sang during the Meeting with Scripture Verses read in between by brother Liang Teck:  “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon (Isaiah 55:7)” The effect was piercing.

Tonight brothers Matthew & James,  Sis. Rhoda  & I discussed about the Campaign. We were reminded of James Alexander Stewart’s book- EVANGELISM WITHOUT APOLOGY”. We ought to have more prayer.

Note: Brother Liang Teck now called Mark – a Trustee of Mt Calvary Baptist Church.

Sister Rhoda Chang – wife of Rev. Matthew Khoo.  She was the Missioner for BHS.

September 5th 1978 (Tuesday)

It was my turn to preach tonight.

Fasted this day. In the afternoon prepared the message on “THE PERFECT GOVERNMENT” with many thoughts and Scripture verses written down, but could not construct it into a sermon.

Listened to the testimonies of brothers Weng Kee & James Tan tonight. The  testimonies were very convicting. The Choir sang “There is a Fountain Filled With Blood.” When I stood up to preach I literally looked to the LORD. Felt the resistance of the evil spirits. But preached the truth by faith. Felt a little assisted after one quarter of the message. A number of souls were saved. (I think about 12).

Tonight the LORD showed me the two agents of conversion: THE WORD OF GOD & THE HOLY SPIRIT SO CLEAR AS NEVER BEFORE. *Born of the Spirit and of the Word of God.”

September 6th 1978  (Message by Brother Matthew in Mandarin.)

Tonight we had  the first night of Evangelistic Campaign in Chinese. Brother Matthew Khoo preached in Mandarin. The attendance was good. Brother James Tan remarked that the Chinese side was  (more) united then the English. Went to Craig Road  Mission with James Tan and prayed.  Returned at about 9 pm. Salvation came upon lost souls again tonight. Went out for dinner with Brother Matthew Khoo.

September 7th 1978.

Tonight attended the Evangelistic Meeting in Cantonese. The place was filled again tonight. Felt worn out in my body by tonight. Listened to the message delivered by Brother Matthew. Felt the conviction of the Holy Spirit.  When the invitation was given souls responded but many held back. I believe this was due to the lack of travailing prayer. The children are come to birth but there was not enough strength to bring forth. In future we need to recruit more agonizers. Counseled a Chinese who engaged in mediumistic work.

September 8th 1978 (FRIDAY)

Tonight brother Matthew spoke a Hokkien message on HEAVEN AND HELL. Again felt the power of God in the Meeting. There was a better response tonight to the message.

There was a glorious liberty of prayer at Mt. Faber to-night.

WE STORMED THE THRONE OF GRACE & CLAIMED PSALM 2:8 AGAIN.  The Meeting seem to be terminated in a very short time. When we are truly in GOD’S PRESENCE we are unconscious of time.  To GOD time is not applicable, for He is Eternal.

Note: Every Friday JSM conducts An All Night Prayer Meeting on Mt. Faber lasting from 10 pm to 4 am – a 6th hour long Marathon Prayer. There’s where we get our power from God. Prayer Meetings are power meetings. A prayerfull   christian is a powerful christian and a prayerless christian is a powerless christian. Same goes for preachers and Churches. However, the prayers at Mt. Faber have ceased.

Notice 3 times Psalm 2 Verse 8 were claimed

We claimed Psalm2:8 “Ask of Me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance…”

Note:-  Throughout the entire message there is a group of brothers and sisters praying separately upstairs for power on the preacher and for souls to be saved. So great faith  were given that we boldly claimed the promises of God, “ASK OF ME..I WILL GIVE THEE THE HEATHEN FOR THINE INHERITANCE Psalm  2:8)

Epilogue:-

According to Sister Rhoda Chang there were 20 converts in the Chinese Services & 48 converts in the English Services – giving a total combined conversions of 68 people during the eight days of Soul Winning.

All these 68 souls were given in answer to God’s promise

“ASK OF ME..I WILL GIVE THEE THE HEATHEN FOR THINE INHERITANCE Psalm  2:8)

THE CHURCH ON HER BENDED KNEES ASKED IN TEARS AND GOD GAVE

“I WILL GIVE” Amen & Amen

For 2nd Promise

Please come back again

And we kindly request all who visit to pray. Pray for God’s anointing Spirit to bring this a reality in every one who reads. And share with all your praying friends

TELL ALL THE “EXCEEDING GREAT & PRECIOUS PROMISES OF OUR LOVING FATHER that they all will be rich in faith.

Amen & Amen

THE AWAKENED CONSCIENCE BY HEART SEARCHING CONFESSION & RESTITUTION

Dear praying Christian Friend,

While posting on

Something there came back to life

Please see carefully December 5 1979 entry

Notice on the top right of the page?

When in KL find Yuen Tow. Over $60.00

What was that statement for?

See again the entry to that day

December 5 1979

Spoke on the “Causes of Disunity” with little power.

Tonight spent more time in confession and heart searching

Also spoke to bro Isaiah.

It was a time of deeper repentance

The people now separated for prayer outside the Mission (Meeting Hall)

Joined the young people in prayer.

Going round all the groups

It was such a blessing

Wonderful art Thou! oh Lord

Note these words

“Tonight spent more time in confession and heart searching

It was a time of deeper repentance”

And it was during these times of heart searching & deeper repentance that God brought to mind my sins of more than ten years ago in 1968

What happened?

“Yuen Tow” in  Cantonese means “Round head”

There was a childhood friend of mine called “Yuen Tow” who bought a brand new bicycle

He decorated his bicycle beautifully with lots of extra colored  reflectors, rear view mirrors, fancy dynamo and others

I decided to play a prank on him. Without his knowledge I took his bicycle and hid it at a deserted place not far from where I stayed.

Hours passed. He was searching for his bicycle frantically and I kept quiet. After many hours near evening he finally found his bicycle.

To his and my horror, the bicycle was stripped bare of all the nice new extras and only a shell left. Some thief done it.

I saw his pain but I kept silent as that prank gone out of hand.

He has no knowledge of my misdeed

But in that Camp God’s Holy Spirit brought it up to my conscience.

There and then I made a secret covenant with God that I will go KL find “Yuen Tow” and repay him back his losses by confession and restitution

So that was how I wrote

“When in KL find Yuen Tow. Over $60.00”

But where to find him? We have moved house & lost all contacts. So next best thing I did was to give away the $60 plus to Old Folks’ Home and others

Now over the next 2 years until 1981 and one fine day while giving some foodstuff to Old Folks Home in Jalan Belang, Singapore I stumbled upon happiness

They said, “You don’t find happiness by searching for it. You stumbled across happiness in the path of doing God’s will”

In year 1981 while doing God’s will in making restitution I received a blessing that changed my life for the next 40 years

Will post on that humbling but happy occasion some day

Now why the need and trouble to get so serious with Restitution, confession & deeper repentance

It is required in Service that the Butcher’s be sharp if he wants to cut meat with ease. A blunt knife will not do the work well

A soldier must keep his Sword sharp. So must we

God’s work requires that our vessel be clean

Isaiah 52:11

“Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD.”

Since God’s Word is Quick (Alive) and Powerful we must be alive as well and give no place to sin. For in time past we were dead in trespasses and sins.

the very opposite of dead in trespasses and sins is to live constantly in a life of consecration by clearing and cleaning off every known sin

Sins of commission, omission or ignorance and restitution all must be dealt with like keeping a Sword sharp, stainless and clean

And we quote

“We must heed the memorable words written by Robert Murray McCheyne to the Rev. Dan Edwards on 2 October 1840 after his ordination as a missionary to the Jews: “I trust you will have a pleasant and profitable time in Germany. I know you will apply hard to German; but do not forget the culture of the inner man – I mean of the heart. How diligently the cavalry officer keeps his sabre clean and sharp; every stain he rubs off with the greatest care. Remember you are God’s sword – His instrument – I trust a chosen vessel unto Him to bear His name. In great measure, according to the purity and perfections of the instrument, will be the success. It is not great talents God blesses so much as great likeness to Jesus. A holy minister is an awful weapon in the hand of God.”

Charles Hadden Spurgeon changed McCheyne’s words  to

“A holy Church is an awful weapon in the hand of God”

And it is also true to say, “A holy Christian is an awful weapon in the hand of God”

Will you do the same?

Remember you are God’s sword – His instrument – I trust a chosen vessel unto Him to bear His name

Note: in that 1979 Workers’ Conference there were not even one ordained minister yet and yet God gracious visited and Bless His people

The Tender Conscience

By Charles Wesley

1 I want a principle within
Of watchful, godly fear,
A sensibility of sin,
A pain to feel it near.
Help me the first approach to feel
Of pride or wrong desire;
To catch the wandering of my will,
And quench the kindling fire.

2 From Thee that I no more may stray,
No more Thy goodness grieve,
Grant me the filial awe, I pray,
The tender conscience give.
Quick as the apple of an eye,
O God, my conscience make!
Awake my soul when sin is nigh,
And keep it still awake.

3 Almighty God of truth and love,
To me Thy power impart;
The burden from my soul remove,
The hardness from my heart.
O may the least omission pain
My reawakened soul,
And drive me to that blood again,
Which makes the wounded whole.

In His Glorious Service

Calvin

December 2 2023

And further note

1 John 1:9 In-Context

7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.
There are people who preached that once you are saved you need not confess sins anymore
This teaching is contrary to God’s Word
Forgiveness of sins and cleansing is conditioned by the word “IF”
If we confess our sins – then He is faithful to forgive and cleanse
Like this
Do you take one bath and then you are clean forever?
Of course not!
You must bathe daily
So is confession
A living person bathes daily as long as he is alive. Only dead people no longer take a bath
Today many are DEAD in Sins and Trespasses and know not they have been deceived by a FALSE GOSPEL
AND WILL SURELY END IN PERDITION
A CHRISTIAN MUST KEEP HIS CONSCIENCE ALIVE TO GOD’S SPIRIT AT ALL TIMES

THE CALLING OF SISTER PATRICIA AW (Circa 1979 June Camp, Singapore)

Dear Praying Friend,

Please take another look at the 1979 Workers’ Conference Photo again below: they said, “A picture speaks a thousand words”.

Indeed! There are many stories coming alive from memory past

One of them was the June Camp 1979 we happened to be the speaker also : since Rev Dr Peter Ng was away in USA to promote the Upcoming World Congress of Fundamentalists (Spore) 1980

We spoke in 3 Camps: 1. BHS JSM CAMP. 2. PK JSM CAMP & 3. CRAIG ROAD JSM CAMP

There was a Special Divine Power in the Craig Road Jsm Camp (circa 1979)

Many many blessed memories! But look at the Sister in Red Blouse (Standing 3rd row almost in the Center is Sister Patricia Aw

Why mention her?

Here is the story

In June 1979 Sister Patricia was called in a very spectacular way when the Holy Spirit moved mightily in her

The Consecration Message was: “THE FIRE OF GOD, called down by Prophet Elijah

1 King 18:

30 And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down.

31 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the Lord came, saying, Israel shall be thy name:

32 And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.

33 And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood.

34 And he said, Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time.

35 And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water.

36 And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.

37 Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the Lord God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.

38 Then the fire of the Lord fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The Lord, he is the God; the Lord, he is the God.

Elijah first repaired the Altar of the LORD that was broken down

So must we. We must repair to the place of a life of Worship & Prayer.

And then we MUST PREPARE A SACRIFICE. Without a sacrifice on the altar the fire of the LORD cannot fall

Yes, GOD’S FIRE WILL NOT FALL ON AN EMPTY ALTAR!

THERE MUST BE A SACRIFICE ON THE ALTAR! A MUST!

And that sacrifice is a WHOLE BURNT OFFERING

23 Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under:

and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.

THAT BULLOCK REPRESENTS OUR BODY, SOUL AND SPIRIT

AND THE FIRE REPRESENTS THE HOLY SPIRIT!

THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL ONLY FALL UPON A WHOLLY CONSECRATED SACRIFICE: AS BOTH THE INWARD ARE OUTWARD ORGANS ARE ALL 100% ON THE ALTAR OF SACRIFICE

SO MUST WE

THIS IS HOW GOD’S SPIRIT WORKS

  1. FIRST WE HEAR GOD’S CALL
  2.  THEN WE YIELD OUR BODIES TO HIM
  3.  WHAT WE YIELD GOD TAKES
  4.  WHAT GOD TAKES GOD EMPTIES
  5.  WHAT GOD EMPTIES GOD CLEANSES
  6. WHAT GOD CLEANSES GOD FILLS
  7.  WHAT GOD FILLS GOD USES

AND OUR VESSELS MUST BE CLEAN. JUST AS WE WILL NOT POUR COOKING OIL INTO DIRTY UTENSIL GOD CANNOT POUR HIS SPIRIT INTO UNCLEAN VESSEL

AND THAT WHOLE BURNT OFFERING IS A TYPE OF ELIJAH

SEE

And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,(1 kING 18:42B)

ELIJAH PRAYER POSTURE: AND PUT HIS FACE BETWEEN HIS KNEES (this is a foetal position of an unborn baby

See the definition

What is meant by Foetal position?

foetal position

noun

  1. a bodily posture resembling that of the fetus in the uterus, in which the body is curled with head and limbs drawn in, sometimes assumed in states of fear or emotional withdrawal.

THIS PRAYER POSTURE SPEAKS OF UTTER HELPLESSNESS AND IN FULL DEPENDENCE UPON GOD

THAT WAS HOW ELIJAH PRAYED FOR 3 1/2 YEARS AND THEN MORE

READ AGAIN

choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under

THE BURNT OFFERING IS TO BE CUT INTO PIECES

YES, IT HURTS, IT CUTS INTO OUR DEAREST CHERISHED IDOLS, OUR DREAMS, OUR SELVES AND INTO ALL AREAS TILL THEY ARE IN PIECES

ONLY THEN WITH 100% TOTAL FULL CONSECRATION WILL THE FIRE FALL

AND FALL IT DID

SEE

38 Then the fire of the Lord fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The Lord, he is the God; the Lord, he is the God.

NOTE:

THE FIRE FELL DOWN FROM ABOVE (NOT WORKED UP BY MEN)

IT CONSUMED THE BURNT SACRIFICE

IT BURNT DOWNWARD: IT CONSUMED THE WOOD

IT CONSUMED THE STONES

IT CONSUMED THE DUST

AND LICKED UP THE WATER IN THE TRENCH!

AS A RESULT THE PEOPLE EXCLAIMED

THE LORD, HE IS THE GOD; THE LORD, HE IS THE GOD

At the end of the message there were two consecrators

One was happily laughing

ONE WAS CRYING AND CRYING AND CRYING NON-STOP

THE ONE WHO CRIED WAS SISTER PATRICIA (SHE WAS UNCONSOLABLE)

And what happened?

The Consecrator who laughed disappeared. Patricia who cried was later called to SOM

GEORGE MUELLER Documentary: A Cloud of Witnesses, By Ken Anderson Film

Dear Praying friends,

George Mueller’s faith inspired Hudson Taylor, C.T. Studd and the 1859 Irish Revival

He has inspired us to pray like none other due to his life long faith in the “LIVING INVISIBLE GOD” who is SO REAL to all who will believe His Promises and claim them by faith

Tonight we will share a Documentary on George Mueller

Please note: Our focus here on George Mueller himself here. We do not endorse the Charismatic modern wild fire of today

True faith and power is in a “Hidden Life of  Prayer”.

“THE BEGINNING OF ANXIETY  IS THE END OF FAITH, AND THE BEGINNING OF TRUE FAITH IS THE END OF ANXIETY”

— GEORGE MUELLER

King James Bible (Hebrews 11:6)
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

New American Standard Bible
And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for the one who comes to God must believe that He exists, and that He proves to be One who rewards those who seek Him.

50 years ago we came to know about George Mueller’s faith in the LIVING GOD

And after 50 long years praying and trusting in George Mueller’s God we now know GOD IS STILL THE SAME GOD OF GEORGE MUELLER

HE IS THE SAME

Yesterday, Today, Forever

1 OH, how sweet the glorious message,
Simple faith may claim;
Yesterday, today, forever,
Jesus is the same.
Still He loves to save the sinful,
Heal the sick and lame:
Cheer the mourner, still the tempest,
Glory to His name!

Refrain:
Yesterday, to-day, for ever,
Jesus is the same,
All may change, but Jesus never!
Glory to His name,
Glory to His name,
Glory to His name,
All may change, but Jesus never!
Glory to His name.

2 He who pardoned erring Peter,
Never need’st thou fear;
He that came to faithless Thomas,
All thy doubt will clear.
He who let the loved disciple
On His bosom rest,
Bids thee still, with love as tender,
Lean upon His breast.

3 He who ’mid the raging billows,
Walked upon the sea;
Still can hush our wildest tempest,
As on Galilee.
He who wept and prayed in anguish,
In Gethsemane,
Drinks with us each cup of trembling,
In our agony.

4 As of old He walked to Emmaus,
With them to abide;
So through all life’s way He walketh,
Ever near our side.
Soon again shall we behold Him,
Hasten, Lord, the day!
But ’twill still be “this same Jesus,”
As He went away.

My dear brother & sister in Jesus Christ

Will you go on your knees and dedicate the rest of your days on earth in a life of prayer like George Mueller did?

You will spend your life in sweet communion with Jesus Christ who is with you every day and will be with you all the days of your life on this fleeting earth

Acts 1:11 KJV

which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Amen & Amen!

A JOYFUL MEMORABLE JSM WORKERS’ CONFERENCE CAMP ON ST JOHN’S ISLAND, SINGAPORE (Circa 1979) (PART TWO)

Dear Praying Friends,

And here are the extracts (excerpts) from 1979 Diary as they were written

Excerpts from SOM CLUB 60 Whataspp

above is the 1979 diary i was reading this morning

ok if you guys don’t mind the bad handwritings

these are the entries of that St John Island Camp (in Singapore)

starts on Dec 3, 1979

DECEMBER 3 to 8 1979 JSM ANNUAL WORKERS’ CONFERENCE

Entry for 3 December, 1979

Left for St John island on Dec 3

quite a large group of conferees turned up

wrote a letter of confession to pastor Peter Ng in USA

after that the liberty of God rushed into my soul

joined bro James Tan and bro Tuck Keong in prayer till 2am

Awakened this morning & before message spoke to Sister Rhoda

Spoke on “Fellowship with God”

The Lord gave remarkable unction

A number of people broke down in confession of sins. There were tears

and contrition.

God moved very gently in each heart.

During tonight prayer God told me to help strengthen Isaiah by talking to him

but I did not.

There was very little unction in the message called “The causes of disunity”

in tomorrow’s message.

How I must walk carefully in increasing light.

Whataspp comment from bro Daniel Tan Jee Huay

“Amazing. They are histories in them”

Calvin replied

“yes bro Jee Huay

I disobeyed then and lost the power”

{Please note: these were whataspp conversations in posted in SOM CLUB 60 last year July 2022)

Saw the film

Centerville Awakening

It has great impact upon us

Called Rifle Range young people to pray with the Craig Road sisters

Several broke down under the power of God

Spoke on the “Causes of Disunity” with little power.

Tonight spent more time in confession and heart searching

Also spoke to bro Isaiah.

It was a time of deeper repentance

The people now separated for prayer outside the Mission (Meeting Hall)

Joined the young people in prayer.

Going round all the groups

It was such a blessing

Wonderful art Thou! oh Lord

ok next one got bro Jee Huay

Spoke on “A living Sacrifice” with considerable power.

Many left this afternoon by ferry to the mainland

Had a walk and talked with bro Jee Huay

(what did we talked??)

Tonight the R(ifle) R(ange) people stayed up until 2am in prayer

They testified later of confession and blessings

Slept early due to bodily tiredness

{Hope you all not tired out}

December 7, 1979

Spoke on “Oneness in Christ” with a slight liberty

After the message appealed to the people

It was a slight challenge to get right with God

Had a day of prayer and fasting

It was a bit taxing on the body

Slept in the afternoon- due to tiredness.

At this time the LORD moved mightily

upon the people praying in the lecture room

Felt more liberty towards the evening

with clear vision and a better frame of mind

Spoke on “God’s faithful remnant” on Gideon’s army

with quite great liberty

4 people responded to full time calling

A number of SOMers stayed back in the

after meeting for confession and dedication.

Brother Jee Huay interjected

“sorry Eng Yee, I have no recollection of this even  at (St John’s Island) even it’s quite obvious i was there

“And what we talk about? No clue”

Truely the LORD was with us in power

Broke fast at about 10pm

Joined in a wonderful time of all

nite prayer meeting

The great peace of God flooded my soul

I can’t refrain from praising and adoration

Truly He is worthy of all glory,

power and honor and majesty

Amen and Amen

Praise the LORD!!!

A thousand thanks for His wonderful grace in saving and using a wretched soul like me

Calvin further comment:

That was in year 1979, more than 43 years ago. Our hearts felt strangely warm and once again fire came into our souls

40 years seem to be a short time as the Work of God is eternal and will last on till eternity to eternity

Now who were the 4 consecrators. The diary did not record their names. But from distant memory we could recall two from the photos

  1. Sis Yee Cheng Sim (KL JSM)
  2.  Sis Tan Suan Ho (Penang JSM)

3 and 4 were who???

Above two consecrators in that 1979 Camp

Sitting 2nd Row  at number 5 from right is Sister Yee Cheng Sim (Where are you now sister?)

For Sister Tan Suan Ho please look at very last row standing from left number four is bro Elisha Yee Bee Chong

And right in front of Bee Chong (Half hidden view) is Sis Tan Suan Ho (Where are you now?)

And this was the consecration song of the Camp on that most blessed and MEMORABLE TIME OF HIS VISITATION

IS YOUR ALL ON THE ALTAR OF SACRIFICE LAID?

1 You have longed for sweet peace,
And for faith to increase,
And have earnestly, fervently prayed.
But you cannot have rest,
Or be perfectly blest,
Until all on the altar is laid.

Refrain:
Is your all on the altar of sacrifice laid?
Your heart does the Spirit control?
You can only be blest,
And have peace and sweet rest,
As you yield Him your body and soul.

2 Would you walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word,
And have peace and contentment alway?
You must do His sweet will
To be free from all ill–
On the altar your all you must lay. [Refrain]

3 Oh, we never can know
What the Lord will bestow
Of the blessings for which we have prayed,
Till our body and soul
He doth fully control,
And our all on the altar is laid. [Refrain]

4 Who can tell all the love
He will send from above,
And how happy our hearts will be made,
Of the fellowship sweet
We shall share at His feet
When our all on the altar is laid! [Refrain]

In that Glorious Camp

we changed the word “you” to a more personal application

it goes like this

Is MY all on the altar of sacrifice laid?
MY heart does the Spirit control?
I can only be blest,
And have peace and sweet rest,
As I yield Him my body and soul.

AMEN & AMEN

ALL GLORY BE TO JESUS CHRIST!

Calvin responded

Rev Peter Tan

I thank you for your great hospitality all those years in Spore

yes I forgotten you got saved in 1975 until you brought it back to my dim memory of old

shalom brother

Rev Peter Tan (Puritan!) replied

“ALL GLORY BE TO GOD!”

From bro Simon Chong

“Bro Calvin, need to tap on your memory. When was the JSM Conference in Singapore and Rev Bob Jones attended?”

Calvin cut & pasted:

Jesus Saves Mission – The 80s

The highlight of 1980 in the history of JSM must have been its hosting of the World Congress of Fundamentalists (16-23 Nov). For the occasion JSM raised a 120-strong choir, with many of the choir members also serving as hosts/hostesses to the Congress delegates. That week saw many friendships made which proved permanent. Immediately after the Congress, Dr. Bob Jones III conducted a few nights of evangelistic meetings, challenging sinners to be saved and saints to be strengthened. Rev. Stephen Koe, Rev. Matthew Koo and Rev. James Tan were also ordained that week.

Maybe that Camp on St John island not 1980??

From Simon Chong

“Ah yes you are indeed resourceful. Thank you”

(Or more forgetful after 40 misty years have passed “Calvin”)

Simon Chong

Yes, that could be the reason why i was not there. I was doing my NS.

Calvin responded

sorry for the confusion

now when was that Camp??

AFTER ALL THE MUSINGS AND WONDERINGS

SISTER PHEBE TAN POSTED
