LORD, WHAT A CHANGE

1.) LORD, what a change within us one short hour
Spent in Thy Presence will prevail to make;
What heavy burdens from our bosoms take,
What parched grounds refresh as with a shower!

2.) We kneel, and all around us seems to lower;
We rise, and all, the distant and the near,
Stands forth in sunny outline, brave and clear;
We kneel, how weak; we rise, how full of power!

3.) Why therefore  should we do ourselves this wrong.
Or others – that we are not always strong,
Anxious or troubled – when with us is prayer,
And joy, and strength. and courage are with Thee

-Archbishop Richard C.Trench

This hymn could be sung to the tune of “GOD OF OUR FATHERS, WHOSE ALMIGHTY HAND..”

The Law of the Lord

The Law of the Lord is perfect
converting the soul
The testimony of the LORD is sure
making wise the simple.

Chorus:-” More to be desired are they than gold.
Yea, than much fine gold
Sweeter also than honey
And the honeycomb”

The statutes of the LORD are right
Rejoicing the heart.
The commandment of the LORD is pure
Enlightening the eyes
Chorus:-” More to be desired are they than gold.
Yea, than much find gold.
Sweeter also than honey”
And the honeycomb.

The fear of the LORD is clean
Enduring for ever

The judgement, of the LORD are true
And righteous altogether.

Final chorus:-
” More to be desired are they than gold.
Yea, than much find gold.
Sweeter also than honey
And the honeycomb

And in the keeping of them
There is great reward.
And in the keeping of them
There is great reward

-King James Bible.

Crucified

1.)  There is no gain but by a loss
We cannot save but by the cross.
The corn of wheat to multiply
Must fall into the ground and die.

2.) Our souls are helf by all they hold
Slaves are still slaves in chains of gold.
To whatsoever we may cling
We made it a soul-chaining thing.

3.) Where ever we ripe fields behold.
Waving to God their sheaves of gold.
Be sure some corn of wheat has died
Some saintly souls been crucified.

4.) Oh! should my soul alone remain
When it a hundred fold can gain
So count I, LORD, this world as dross;
That I may daily share Thy cross.

This poem could be sung to the tune of  “I ‘M PRESSING ON THE UPWARD WAY : Chorus Only”.

“Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Except a corn of  wheat fall
into the ground and die, it abideth”
alone: but if it die, it
bringeth forth much fruit” – Jn. 12:24

Morning Prayer

http://www.inspiretopray.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/morning2bprayer2bbible2bscripture.jpg?w=300

1.) I met the LORD in the morning
When my day was at its best.
And his presence came like sunrise
With a glory in my breast.

2.) All day long his presence lingered.
All day long he stayed with me.
And we sailed with perfect calmness
O’er a very troubled sea.

3.) Other ships were blown and battered
Other ships were sore distressed
But the wind that seem to drive them
Brought to us a peace and rest.

4.) Then I think of other mornings
With a keen remorse in mind.
When I too have lost the mooring
With the presence left behind.

5.) Then I think I know the secret;
Learnt from many a troubled way.
You must meet God in the morning
If you want him all the day.

6.) For the promise He has given
My presence will go with you.
Under my wings you shall abide
And your strength I will renew.

This poem could be sung to the tune of “WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS”.

“If you can beat the devil in the matter of regular daily prayer, you can beat him anywhere. If he can beat you there, he can possibly beat you anywhere” – Evangelist Paul Rader.
